One hundred and eight contenders became 58 with 15 international raiders reduced to five after second declarations closed for the $3 million Caulfield Cup (2400m) on Tuesday.
Champion Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien still has three live chances to run in the feature handicap after he paid up for Highland Reel, Order Of St George and Sir Isaac Newton. Should all three make the trip to Australia, they'd all make the field, currently third, fourth and equal 12th respectively in the order of entry.
Other internationally-trained entries are Charlie Appleby's Godolphin entry Scottish (equal 12th) and German galloper Articus (29th) which is trained by Andreas Wohler.
Last Saturday's Naturalism Stakes winner Jameka shot up Caulfield Cup markets following her victory and she is one of two horses guaranteed of a place in the field due to the Caulfield event carrying ballot exemption.
Jockey Club Stakes winner Exosphere was sold recently and transferred from Sir Michael Stoute into the Lee and Anthony Freedman stable and is the other horse exempt from the ballot.
Caulfield Cup favourite Hartnell is 10th in the order of entry.
The most notable non-acceptors at the second declaration stage are – last year's Melbourne Cup winner Prince Of Penzance, last year's Caulfield Cup runner-up Trip To Paris, Hauraki and Tosen Stardom.
