Official Randwick 2YO Trials This Morning

Breednet - Friday September 16
The $1,6 million Magic Millions sale topper is one of 89 two-year-olds nominated to contest the official two-year-old trials at Randwick on Monday and we'll be covering them throughout the morning.

Showtime as a yearlingChauffeur, by Snitzel out of Gimcrack Stakes winner Mirror Mirror (by Dehere), which topped the Magic Millions to the bid of Jadesky Racing and Gerald Ryan, is in heat 10 on a day where 12 heats are set to be run.

The official trials have been steadily dwindling on numbers since the heyday of an initial set at Canterbury before the Randwick trials consisting of well over 20 heats, but they still give us the first look at some truly top class racehorses of the future.

In fact, the final heat last year was won by subsequent champion juvenile Capitalist, while we also got our first look at horses such as Prized Icon, Defcon, Star Turn and Archives.

Chauffeur is one of two million dollar babies entered, the other being Showtime, a Snitzel x Flidais colt which made $1.1 million at Magic Millions and is now in the Team Hawkes stable, with the next highest being Zatar, a $925,000 Easter buy.

All Too Hard and Pierro, the first season horses with the highest expectations each have five entrants.

The All Too Hard's headed by $370,000 Magic Millions purchase Darhad (ex Kakakakatie) from the Michael Freedman stable while Pierro's most expensive runner is China Gale (ex Rocha) from the Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott stable which made $450,000 at Easter.
