The
second debut winner in a week for a Redoute's Choice colt trained by Mike De
Kock, this time out of an Australian Group One winning mare.
Springhills started a very short priced favourite in the maiden at Vaal on
Thursday and managed to get the win by only a half head from Mind Shade, the
only other runner taken seriously in the market.
Springhills is by Redoute's Choice out of Gr.1 Goodwood Handicap winner
Velocitea (Volksraad) and he becomes her third foal to race and third winner.
She has previously left Limehills, a stakesplaced full-brother to Springhills
and has a two year-old by Redoute's Choice this season which made $340,000 at
Magic Millions this year, a yearling by Fastnet Rock and was served by Fastnet
Rock again last season.
Springhills was offered by Rheinwood Pastoral at the 2015 Magic Million Gold
Coast Sale where he was sold to the bid of James Harron Bloodstock and Snowden Racing
for $300,000.
He now however races in the colours of Arrowfield Stud.
