A colt by Tapit out of Grade 1 winner Hooh Why sold to
J J Crupi for $1,2 million late during Tuesday's second session of
the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
Baccari Bloodstock, agent, consigned the colt. Winner of Keeneland's
2009 Ashland (G1), Hooh Why is by Cloud Hopping.
A colt by Tapit who is the first foal out of 2012 Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner
Believe You Can sold for $900,000 to William Mack and Robert Bakersoon
after the start of Tuesday's session.
Brereton C. Jones/Airdrie Stud, agent, consigned the colt. Believe You Can is
by Proud Citizen.
"I couldn't be any happier," Jones said. "That is what we are
trying to do: breed those kind of horses. From the very beginning, we knew he
was special. I have always liked him."
"Tapit is a great sire and this is a great-looking animal," Mack
said. "We hope for the best."
Mack and Baker were in the partnership that raced Proud Citizen, winner of
Keeneland's 2002 Coolmore Lexington (G2) who went on to runsecond in the
Kentucky Derby (G1) and third in the Preakness (G1).
Around 1:40 p.m., a War Front colt consigned by Brereton C. Jones/Airdrie Stud,
agent, sold to Shadai Farm of Japanfor $900,000. Out of the Mazel Trick
mare Don't Trick Her, the colt is a half-brother to Grade 1 winners Include Me
Out and Check the Label and stakes winner On the Menu.
Not surprisingly Gainesway Farm's champion Tapit has been the star of the show
after the first two sessions, accounting for four of the top 10 lots in Session
One on Monday and seven of the top 12 in Session Two.
