The late High Chaparral (IRE) denied his champion son So You Think his first stakes-winner on Australian soil when the Tony McEvoy-trained Silvera nosed out Smart As You Think in Saturday's $100,000 Listed Goldin Farms Morphettville Guineas (1600m).
The 3yo grey colt is now two from two having captured a maiden at Mildura back on August 19.
Settled well back in the field by Damien Thornton, Silvera came with a barnstorming finish to edge out the filly Smart As You Think (So You Think) by a short-half-head with Ace Attack (Rebel Raider) a head back in third.
"That was a big win,'' McEvoy's son Calvin told the Adelaide Advertiser.
"To win like that was really good. He gave them a start and was too strong on the line. He's going to be a nice horse."
A homebred for Linda Huddy, Silvera carries the same colours as his three-quarter brother, 5-time Group 1 winner and $3.2 million
Silvera is the first foal of the Ferocity mare Silver Tiara, a $320,000 yearling who failed to flatter in her two race starts.
Besides being a half-sister to Shoot Out, Silver Tiara is a half-sister to Group III Western Australian Oaks winner Cassandra Shadow (Johannesburg).
Silver Tiara has a yearling filly by Foxwedge and was covered by Dream Ahead (USA) last spring.
