The
first two-year-old trial of the season in Sydney, some smart three-year-olds
and an appearance by Winx were the highlights of the Warwick Farm barrier trials
on Friday.
With Winx having missed a scheduled race in the Chelmsford Stakes last weekend
courtesy of the heavy going, she was only out to stretch the legs in a 1200m
heat and finished a hard held third.
The two-year-old heat saw six youngsters appear with the winner Falconic, a
colt by Nicconi (pictured) from Queen Of The Falls.
He was a $105,000 purchase at session two of Magic Millions Gold Coast and raced
by a syndicate comprising only women so no surprises what the hopes and dreams
are for Falconic with the Magic Millions all women bonus carrot dangling.
Heat 10 saw a strong and interesting bunch of three year-olds including the
likes of first-up Vain Stakes winner Russian Revolution, Qld Sires Produce
winner Attention and Octavian Augustus, son of South African champion Sun
Classique.
The winner was Legerity from the Team Hawkes stable, already a city winner,
with Russian Revolution second and Octavian Augustus third.
All the performances would have met with some level of satisfaction from their trainers
however with others including Aviator and Morton's Fork, both of whom would
have some aspirations for a nice race through the spring.
Some other notables to show up included a couple of un-raced Godolphin three
year-olds in Ozark and Bezel.
Ozark is by Lonhro out of Ouachita, a half-sister to two Group One winners in
Denman and Preserve.
Bezel is by Street Cry and the first foal of the famously brave and consistent
Beaded, winner of the Gr1 Doomben 10,000.
