When
O'Shea and McDonald combine to win with a short priced favourite at Kembla from
the family of a champion and an Oaks winner you'd be best advised to put it in
your blackbook.
On Tuesday the pair combined to win with three-year-old colt Bryneich, who
atoned for an unlucky debut with a comfortable win on Tuesday.
That debut was on the Beaumont track at Newcastle when giving away a start and
finding bother on the turn before beaten a nose, but with stable rider James McDonald
taking over second-up he never looked in any real danger of losing with a
strong finishing performance.
Bryneich is by Lonhro (pictured) from Bernicia (Elusive Quality) making him a full-brother
to last season's quality three-year-old Old North, winner of the Gr2 Tulloch
Stakes.
Bernicia is out of Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Danelagh and was a stakes
winner in the Keith Nolan Classic (LR) at Kembla.
She's a half-sister to both Hong Kong champion and Horse of the Year Vengeance
Of Rain, and Australian Oaks winner Dizelle.
Godolphin have a yearling out of her by Exceed And Excel and she was served
last year by Hallowed Crown.
