Transferred to Darren Weir earlier this year after racing successfully for Rod Northam as a two, three and four year-old, Voodoo Lad (pictured Grant Courtney) has gone to another level in Victoria.
The five year-old gelding has not missed a place in seven starts for his new trainer and made it back to back stakes wins when zooming home from last to win the 1200 metre sprint by a length after missing the start.
"It was an ordinary ride but he's flying,” said winning rider Chris Parnham.
"He was standing there looking the other way when the gates opened so I just let him find his feet - I knew he could get over-racing if I dug him up.
"When I let him go around the turn he just took off.”Purchased for just $36,000 by Segenhoe Thoroughbreds from the Yarraman Park draft at the Inglis Scone Yearling Sale, Voodoo Lad has the overall record of eight wins from 15 starts with prizemoney topping $490,000.
He is the last foal and third winner for placed Gilded Time (USA) mare O'Fortuna, who died in 2012 and whose dam is a sister to champion sprinter Schillaci.
Voodoo Lad is one of 14 stakes-winners for I Am Invincible, who is booked out this spring at Yarraman Park at a fee of $55,000.
