From New Caledonia to Arrowfield

Tara Madgwick - Friday September 2
We receive foal photos from all over Australia and New Zealand each year to add to the hugely successful Breednet Foal Gallery, but a foal that came in from New Caledonia back in 2012 was something unique and the dam of that foal is set to feature again this year as she is now in Australia at Arrowfield Stud.

Aetherius filly from MalukarBack in 2012, Jean-Ronald Marinacce sent us a picture of his filly by blue-blooded Kiwi bred New Caledonia based sire Aetherius, a$1.3 million colt from the 2007 NZB Premier Yearling Sale, by Stravinsky (USA) from 'Cups Queen' Ethereal.

The filly is the first foal of another Kiwi import to New Caledonia in Malukar, a Viking Ruler daughter of Group I New Zealand Oaks winner Staring, the grand-dam of Champion 3YO and now exciting young Arrowfield sire Dundeel.

Fast forward to 2016 and Mr Marinacce informs us that his filly, now named Tristram Hill, has won several races and is the Champion 3YO Filly in New Caledonia, while her dam Malukar has returned to the commercial breeding world in Australia.

Mr Marinacce selected Choisir's four-time Group I winning son Olympic Glory (IRE) as her partner and this stunning colt is the result of the mating, so it's no surprise to learn that she is set to visit him again this spring.
