It's
not unusual for Chris Waller to produce an interstate metro double on a Wednesday,
but it is when the two winners in question are full sisters Sezanne and
Champagne Ready.
Four year-old More Than Ready (USA) mare Champagne Ready was the first to
salute, taking out the opening race at Sandown to break her maiden at her
second start.
A $150,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Vinery Stud draft, Champagne Ready runs
for a big group of owners including her breeder Greg Perry who retained a small
share.
Scoring her second win at Canterbury was three year-old More Than Ready filly
Sezanne, who did a good job to beat older mares to win the Benchmark 67 event
over 1200 metres by a long head.
Sezanne has always shown good ability and was second to Group III ATC Up and
Coming Stakes winner Divine Prophet on debut at Kembla back in March, so her
current good form is no surprise.
Entered for the Group I MRC Thousand Guineas, Sezanne was retained to race by
Greg Perry.
Champagne Ready and Sezanne are the first two winners from Group II winning
Choisir mare Champagne Harmony, who comes from the family of Group I winners
Champagne and St Reims.
Champagne Harmony was bought by respected bloodstock agent Steve Brem for
$700,000 at the 2012 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale for Greg Perry and
has made a pleasing start to her stud career.
She has a yearling colt by Congrats (USA) and was covered last spring by
Sebring.
