Darley's
Golden Slipper winner Sepoy added a new winner to his tally overnight with a
debut victory at Goodwood for Desert Water.
Easy in the market, the Richard Hannon trained filly surged home from back in
the field to win the one mile maiden by a neck.
"I thought Desert Water would need it and she surprised me a bit because I
thought she would get tired, but she got the trip well and showed a willing
attitude and a nice turn of foot. She´s quite a nice filly. She´ll improve
massively on that," Hannon said.
Purchased for 80,000 guineas by Peter and Ross Doyle Bloodstock at the
Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, Desert Water is the first winner for Desert
Sunrise, a half-sister by Green Desert to Group I winner Primo Valentino and to
the dam of imported Australian Group III winner Julienas.
Desert Water is the 14th winner for Sepoy, seven in Australia and seven in the Northern Hemisphere.
