Former
top class mare Hollow Bullet's stud career could best be described as mixed but
she produced one to follow on a wet Warwick Farm track on Wednesday.
Proving herself one of, if not the best of her generation with wins in the Gr.1
VRC Oaks and Gr.1 Arrowfield Stud Stakes,
Hollow Bullet made a promising start at stud with her first foal by
Redoute's Choice selling for $850,000 to Katsumi Yoshida and going on to win
five races in Japan as Ranryoo.
Yoshida subsequently bought two more of her progeny for $100,000 and $160,000
with little success but in 2015 Vinery Stud stepped up to the plate, paying
$450,000 for the colt by Snitzel offered by Arrowfield Stud at the Easter Yearling
Sale.
Now racing as Sizzling Bullet, he was given five barrier trials by trainer Chris
Waller before being s sent to the races on a heavy track over 1100m and beating
only one home.
Certainly not a glorious start but a rapid step up to 1600m, a bit more experience
and he was straight into the winners stall with a reasonably dominant win.
He's still got a way to go to reach the limelight but with a bit of mum's
staying talent and continued improvement he's one that will be interesting to
watch next time he's produced.
Sadly Hollow Bullet's 2014 foal, by Snitzel died and she missed to the same
stallion last season.
