Fourth Stakes Win for Tycoon Tara

Mark Smith - Sunday August 21

Written Tycoon's six-year-old daughter Tycoon Tara broke a run of outs when successful for new trainers Peter and Paul Snowden in the Group II Missile Stakes on a bottomless Randwick track at her most recent start but a return to a good track proved no obstacle in Saturday's Group III Show County Quality (1200m) at Randwick.

Ridden by Kerrin McEvoy, Tycoon Tara defeated the Randwick Guineas winner Le Romain (Hard Spun) by one and a quarter lengths with the consistent Mount Nebo (Dubawi) another length back in third. (photos Lisa Grimm).

"It's no shock to us," Paul Snowden said.

"I said to the press during the week that it was no fluke seeing her win the other day.

"Kerrin rode a smart race and she looked the winner a long way from home.

"That was the doubt in the punters' minds, if she could back up off that heavy track and put them to bed on a good track.

"But she looks a million bucks and raced accordingly. I said to one of the owners before the race when they look that good they don't usually run poorly."

Snowden said Tycoon Tara may have earned a trip back to Melbourne where she is a dual Group III winner.

"We had to change tack after the Missile and I dare say we'll have to change again after today," he said.

"I'm sure we'll find a couple of nice races for her down in Melbourne and it's nice to know she handles that way of going."

Bred and part-owned by Tony Krushka, Tycoon Tara advances her overall record to 8 wins, 2 seconds and 2 thirds from 24 starts with earnings of $556,870.

The third of four foals left by the 4-time Melbourne winning Encores mare Mosstara before her death in November 2014, Tycoon Tara's great granddam Finest Star, is a half-sister to the dam of King's Stand Stakes winner Godswalk (IRE).
