Palace Tycoon Tops Inglis Melbourne August Sale

Media Release - Friday August 19

Last start Caulfield placegetter Palace Tycoon has topped the 2016 Inglis August Thoroughbred Sale in Melbourne today selling for $90,000 from the draft of David Moodie's Contract Racing.

Palace Tycoon (by Testa Rossa) was one of 174 lots sold at Friday's auction, where $2,015,000 was traded across the breeding and racing stock offered. The top five lots were all four-year-old racing prospects.

Contract Racing sold three of the top four lots with Medaglia D'Oro mare Miss Cooper selling for $72,500 to Cornerstone Stud, South Australia, and Encosta de Lago mare Elsedine purchased by Three Fillies Lodge, Victoria for $65,000.

Robert Roulston Bloodstock bought Lonhro mare Wingstack for $70,000 from GSA Bloodstock, while Darby Racing purchased the top of Godolphin's draft when going to $62,000 for Foxwhistle, a daughter of Authorized.

Well related five-year-old mare Star Hunter topped the broodmare section when selling to the China Horse Club for $57,000. Out of Group 2 winning Flying Spur mare Ponton Flyer, Star Hunter is a half-sister to stakes winners Black Vanquish and Minnesota Shark.

The sale started at 10:30am following a parade of six Victorian first season sires; Dandino, Late Charge, Nostradamus, Ready For Victory, Rock Sturdy and Trust In A Gust.

It was the second time Trust In A Gust has graced the sale ring at Oaklands, as the dual Group 1 winner was sold to his champion trainer Darren Weir for $45,000 at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale back in 2012.

Inglis' Make-An-Offer Service is available for all breeding and racing stock that passed-in at today's August Thoroughbred Sale.

The next sale on the Inglis calendar is the 2016 Inglis Ready2Race Sale. 255 two-year-olds have been catalogued for the sale with breeze ups to be conducted on the grass course proper at Cranbourne and Canterbury in early September.

Hard-copy catalogues for the Ready2Race Sale are now available and can be requested by emailingcatalogue@inglis.com.auor calling Inglis' Sydney office on +61 2 9399 7999.
