The
Group II Lowther Stakes at York overnight was won in good style by progressive
filly Queen Kindly, who became the second stakes-winner for champion racehorse
and now red hot young sire Frankel.
The Richard Fahey trained filly took the six
furlong sprint by three-quarters of a length and has now won three of
four starts.
"It was easy on the eye to watch. It looked a bit tight about a furlong and a
half out but once the gap opened I knew Queen Kindly would pick up. Her mother
was just beaten in the Abbaye and she won this race," said Fahey.
"I have got to speak to Mr Abdullah and the whole team, but the Cheveley Park
Stakes is probably the obvious plan. You would be worried on pedigree, on the
dam´s side, whether she would be a Guineas filly but we will see."
Bred by Rabbah Bloodstock and raced by Jaber Abdullah, Queen Kindly is the
first winner for Champion Filly Sprinter Lady of the Desert, a Rahy daughter of
Group I winner and Champion 2YO Filly Queen's Logic.
Further back it's the family of Horse of the Year Dylan Thomas, so Queen Kindly
may surprise in terms of distance range.
Frankel has sired 10 winners from 15 runners, so has made an impressive start
to his stud career.
Frankel will have his first Australian two year-olds running this season.
