Williams to Head Up Goffs UK

GOFFS UK have appointed popular and respected Australian bloodstock identity Tony Williams as their new managing director. He will take up the position on October 7.

Williams has worked in the industry for more than 40 years. Previous roles include nine years at Magic Millions before helping to set up Newgate Stud in New South Wales.

Tony leaves Newgate Farm after four productive years and Managing Director, Henry Field is sad to see him go:

"Tony and I have been working side by side from virtually the conception of Newgate and he has been pivotal both in its growth and its success. It will be a sad day when he leaves, however I am very excited by the new opportunity Goffs UK have presented him and have no doubt he will be huge success in this new endeavour. He is a good operator and a good friend, and the entire team at Newgate we wish him all the very best."

He has also worked as an agent to the Hong Kong Jockey Club in connection with the Hong Kong International Sale since 2000.

Goffs group chief executive Henry Beeby said: "Tony brings a wealth of experience to Goffs UK and we're confident he will prove a valuable addition to our passionate team.

"A respected horseman, Tony is also a natural leader as well as a genuine people person, which is crucial for an auction house. Williams will be in attendance at next week's Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale.
