Brazilian Star for Holy Roman Emperor

Tara Madgwick - Thursday August 11
Shuttling to Aquis Farm this spring, Danehill's Group I winning son Holy Roman Emperor has sired Group I winners in any number of countries and has a star performer in Brazil at present with exciting colt Maraton claiming his second win at the highest level in the Grade I Grande Premio Adhemar de Almeida Prado last weekend at Cidade Jardim.

The talented colt made it back to back Grade I wins when taking the 1600 metre turf feature by a head, his third win from seven starts.

Holy Roman EmperorHoly Roman Emperor shuttled initially to Australia in the first years of his stud career for Coolmore before switching to Brazil in South America for several seasons.

Maraton is the first South American Grade I winner for Holy Roman Emperor and is his seventh overall.

An incredibly versatile sire of sprinters and stayers, Holy Roman Emperor was making news earlier this week with his star son Mongolian Khan crowned NZ Horse of the Year for the second year in a row.

Holy Roman Emperor stands at Aquis Farm in Queensland for the very first time this year at a fee of $9,900.
