First Foal for Toronado

The first Northern Hemisphere foals by High Chaparral's high class Group I winning son Toronado (IRE) won high praise earlier this year and his first Australian born foal is every bit as impressive.



Born at boutique broodmare farm Riversdale in the Hunter Valley, this lovely bay filly is the first foal for placed Testa Rossa mare Riverina Red, a half-sister to stakes-placed Four Floors from the family of European Group winners Arod, Far Lane and Dark Islander.

Owned by Swettenham client John Connellan, she is reported to be strong and well put-together - a very good effort for the mare's first foal.

Shuttling to Swettenham Stud for Al Shaqab Racing from The National Stud in the UK, Toronado was very popular with breeders last year covering 175 mares to be the busiest first season horse in Victoria.



A dual Group I winner of the prestigious Royal Ascot Queen Anne Stakes and Goodwood Sussex Stakes, he returns this spring at a fee of $22,000.
