First Foals for Rubick

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday August 10
Coolmore's brilliantly fast, blue-blooded sprinter Rubick was a popular pick with broodmare owners last spring covering 217 mares and his stunning first foals are delighting their owners.

Astute breeder Bob Hannon at Ascot Park near Sydney is no stranger to success having bred Cox Plate winner Shamus Award and is among the first breeders to greet a Rubick foal!

"I'm very happy with her - she's a cracking filly that looks just like her Dad!" said Bob Hannon.

This lovely filly is the second foal of young Fastnet Rock mare Beaver Rocks, who comes from the family of Group I winner Hard to Get.

Torryburn Stud are also thrilled with their Rubick colt from Blitzem Belle, a Danehill Dancer (IRE) half-sister to stakes performers Anyaas, Manhattan Blues and Zikmann.

"We couldn't be happier with him. He's the perfect package really – size, bone, scope and full of quality," said Torryburn Stud Manager Mel Copelin.

A fast precocious two year-old that trained on to beat older sprinters in the Group II MRC Schillaci Stakes, Rubick is a royally bred son of champion sire Encosta de Lago from the family of champion sire Redoute's Choice.

Chosen to succeed his legendary sire Encosta de Lago, Rubick stands at Coolmore this spring for $17,600
