With
four previous runs all in stakes races, this blue-blooded daughter of champion
sire Exceed and Excel was always going to find a Geelong maiden on a Tuesday an
easy assignment.
Second on debut to subsequent Group I MRC Blue Diamond winner Extreme Choice in
the $500,000 Inglis Nursery last December when trained by Gai Waterhouse, three
year-old filly So Serene failed to figure in her next three starts all in Group
company.
Now trained by the Hayes / Dabernig partnership, who took her over in March of this
year, So Serene was having her first run back in the 1100 metre maiden and was
a short priced favourite.
She ran to expectation, bouncing straight to the front before cruising home to
win by two and three-quarter lengths.
Black Type events will no doubt be on the agenda and she is entered for the
Group I MRC Thousand Guineas.
A $650,000 Inglis Easter purchase for James Harron Bloodstock from the Segenhoe
Stud draft, So Serene runs for Fairway Thoroughbreds and her breeder Segenhoe
Thoroughbreds.
She is the first foal of Irish Group III winning Distorted Humor mare
Radharcnafarraige, who is in foal to champion sire Fastnet Rock.
