Dual Group I-winner Xtravagant stretched his legs at Flemington on Tuesday ahead of an intended jumpout on Friday.
Stephen Autridge, who trains Xtravagant in partnership with Jamie Richards, said Xtravagant will have a more serious gallop later in the week.
"He just stretched his legs and Damien (Oliver) was very happy with him. He wasn't out to do much, he'll have a jumpout (800m) on Friday where Damien will ride," Autridge said.
The four-year-old was in Melbourne for the Australian Guineas in March but Autridge said the entire has taken to life at Flemington in a better frame of mind.
"He's settled in better than he did last time we were here. It was a bit of a rush last time, we wanted to get here a bit early and get settled," Autridge said.
Autridge nominated the Listed Chandler Macleod Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley on September 3 as the first start for Xtravagant.
"Depending on how the jumpout goes then that's the race we're looking at," Autridge said.
"Ideally we're looking to get him to relax a bit better and run a strong mile and further – not ride him back, just get him to settle in behind the lead."
The Group I Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield on September 24 then the Toorak Handicap on October 8 would be the next races should Xtravagant run to his New Zealand form.
"Depending on how we go in those we'll make the call on the Cox Plate or if we have to look at something else." Autridge said.
Xtravagant last raced on April 30 when winning the Group III Breeders Stakes over 1200m at Te Aroha.
