A
brace of Dream Ahead (USA) 3-year-olds delivered in a big way on some early
promise when Ken's Dream routed a maiden field on debut in Australia and Donjuan
Triumphant finished a highly creditable runner-up in a prestigious French Group
1 contest.
The Darren Weir-trained Ken's Dream turned a 1000m Maiden Plate at Echuca in to a procession when racing away from his opposition to post a nine-length debut victory.
Despite drawing the outside barrier in a 10-horse field, the
3-year-old son of Dream Ahead went to post a $2.00 favourite at his first
career start and lived right up to expectations with a dominant performance.
A
strapping son of Dream Ahead produced by the Shamadal (USA) mare La Bella Rose,
Ken's Dream picked up $33,400 for his debut success — and with the promise of
plenty more to come. Significantly, the gifted colt holds entries for both the
Caulfield Guineas (October 8) and Caulfield Classic (October 15) going forward.
Donjuan
Triumphant returned to his very best form when a fighting runner-up in the
Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest (1300m) at Deauville overnight. One of 15
high-class international sprinters to take his place in the field, the European-bred
3-year-old son of Dream Ahead turned in a valiant effort to get within a length
and a quarter of seasoned sprinter Signs Of Blessing.
Donjuan Triumphant established himself as one of Europe's leading 2-year-olds of the 2015 racing season when claiming the Group 2 Criterium Maisons-Laffitte in France and Listed York Rockingham Stakes in England.
Connections of the colt indicated that the Group 1 Prix de la Foret would be targeted later in the season. Of course, his sire Dream Ahead defeated the great Goldikova in the 2011 renewal of the same time honoured event.
