A homebred for Cheveley Park Stud, two year-old Foxwedge filly Elliptical made a
winning debut at Newmarket in the UK on Friday.
Easy in the market, the Robert Cowell trained filly raced greenly, but was
still too good in forging clear to win the six furlong maiden by a length and a
half.
"If we can keep her energy channeled in the right direction I think Elliptical
could be quite useful," said Cowell.
"I´d imagine because of her size we´ll keep her fairly lightly raced and then
put her away for next year. She´s got a lovely big frame and she can only improve
physically."
Elliptical is the first winner for Gyroscope, a three-quarter sister by
Spinning World to Group III winning sprinter miler Arakan.
She is the 18th winner for Fastnet Rock's Group I winning son Foxwedge,
who stands at Newgate Farm this spring at a fee of $22,000.
