Astute
Brisbane trainer Robert Heathcote is no stranger to success with a good Mossman
and produced a promising maiden winner at Doomben on Wednesday by the sire in
Cushion Pink, a $24,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Newhaven Park draft.
An encouraging third on debut at the Sunshine Coast last month, Cushion Pink flew
home from back in the field to score a half head win in the 1110 metre maiden.
Cushion Pink is the second winner from Danehill (USA) mare Pink Princess, a
minor winner from stakes-placed Western Hour, whose grand-dam is celebrated
matriarch Fanfreluche.
Robert Heathcote is the trainer of Mossman's flagbearer Buffering and the smart
Group III winner Hopfgarten, so if anyone can get the best from Cushion Pink it
will be him.
