Foxwedge Colt Impresses

A homebred for the Niarchos family, two year-old Foxwedge colt Gilgamesh opened his account with a stylish victory at Nottingham in the UK overnight.

FoxwedgePrepared by George Scott, Gilgamesh was eighth on debut in a strong seven furlong race at Newmarket and appreciated a drop back to six furlongs and the addition of a tongue tie to forge clear and win by three quarters of a length.

Gilgamesh is the second winner from Flaming Cliffs, a Kingmambo daughter of Group I winner Insight, a sibling to Group I winners Dolphin Street and Saffron Walden.

Gilgamesh is the ninth first crop winner for Foxwedge in the Northern Hemisphere and is his 17th winner overall.

A Group I winning son of Fastnet Rock, Foxwedge stands at Newgate Farm this spring at a fee of $22,000.
