Third Season Supremacy

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday August 2
End of season sires lists have been well covered in recent days with Street Cry (IRE) (overall), Smart Missile (first season) and Hinchinbrook (second season) the division leaders by earnings, but third season sires are sometimes overlooked and for those interested in the ongoing stoush between I Am Invincible and Medaglia D'Oro (USA) we thought we should take a look.

The Stallions website publishes a third season sires list sorted by earnings for 2015/2016 as below.

I Am InvincibleYarraman Park's I Am Invincible (service fee $55,000) is the leader by earnings with 88 winners of $5.2 million in prizemoney including six stakes-winners.

Darley based Medaglia D'Oro($110,000) is the leader by stakes-winners with seven on the board, while Widden Stud's Nicconi ($11,000) has the most winners, falling one short of his century on 99 winners.

Cambridge Stud's Tavistock ($65,000) was the best on the Group I stage with two elite winners in Tarzino and Tavago, while All American ($11,000), now domiciled in Western Australia at Geisel Park Stud, had one, Yankee Rose.

It's interesting to go back and take a look at how these stallions were placed at the end of their first season in 2014, table courtesy of Arion.
