Back
at Coolmore Australia this spring, Starspangledbanner featured overnight with a
new stakes-winner in France where four year-old mare Silver Rainbow took out
the Listed Prix du Cercle at Deauville.
Sent out favourite for the five furlong sprint, the Charles Hills trained mare
proved much too good in cruising clear to win by a length and a half.
Silver Rainbow has won five of 12 starts and is the first Black Type winner for
her dam Enchanting Way, a Linamix half-sister to US Group I winner Ashkal Way
and US Group II winner Sentiero Italia.
She is the fifth stakes-winner worldwide for Starspangledbanner, who stands
this spring at a fee of $24,750.
Despite his well-documented fertility issues, Starspangledbanner has put together
some impressive statistics.
He has 72% winners to runners and 9.2% stakes-winners to runners, stats that
mark him as a seriously good sire.
