Rothesay
was expected to get the first winner at the Gold Coast on Wednesday with his
two year-old filly Tay Swift an omen tip and favourite, but in the end it was his
gelded son Beloso that claimed the victory.
Fourth and second at his two previous runs, the Kim Craft trained Beloso scored
a deserved long neck win in the 1200 metre maiden at his third start.
A $35,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Robin Wide draft for Darryl Craft,
Beloso will have more wins in store.
Beloso is the first winner for stakes-winning Chilean bred Hussonet mare Galanteada
(Chi).
He is the 42nd winner of the season for Glenlogan Park's Rothesay,
who is the leading Queensland based second crop sire and is second overall to only Star
Witness this season for winners in this division.
A Group II winning son of Fastnet Rock, Rothesay stands at a fee of $11,000
this spring.
