Prime
Thoroughbreds celebrated a popular win in the $51,800 Grafton Guineas on
Wednesday when Mossman three year-old Reneged took the 1600 metre feature as
favourite.
Not far away at his two most recent runs in the Group II BRC Queensland Guineas
and Group III Sunshine Coast Guineas, the John Thompson trained Reneged made
light of his top weight of 61 kg to score a powerful two length victory.
Winning rider Tye Angland was impressed with the win.
"I really do like him, he is a horse that is winning races at the moment and he
has got little bit of maturing to do but when he does that he will come along a
lot," Angland said.
The win was a great result for Joe O'Neill's Prime Thoroughbreds, who won the
Grafton Cup 15 years ago with Desktop Lover.
Reneged looks to have a bright future and already has the record of three wins
from eight starts with prizemoney just shy of $100,000.
A $100,000 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale purchase from the draft of
Baramul Stud, Reneged is a three-quarter brother-in-blood to $6million earner
and six-time Group I winner Buffering.
He is one of two winners from Hussyanna, a half-sister by Hussonet (USA) to
Buffering.
