A first-crop son of Harbour Watch (Ire) made a very big impression in England overnight by landing a 6-furlong Maiden Stakes staged at Windsor by a commanding 8-length winning margin.
Named Tis Marvellous, the youngster was sent to post a 4/9 favourite and proceeded to win accordingly.
A reluctant leader on settling, the son of Harbour Watch only set an even pace for the next three furlongs before putting the result beyond any doubt fully two furlongs from home. The final stages of the contest saw the handsome colt coast to the line with all eight rivals proving to be completely outclassed.
Tis Marvellous was facing the starter for only the second time in his career. His debut performance saw him finish runner-up in a Newbury event in which he only failed to get the better of the Hamdan al Maktoum-raced Mutawatheb in a 14-horse field.
Tis Marvellous became the fifth individual first crop 2-year-old winner for Harbour Watch, the unbeaten Timeform Champion 2YO that covered two Australian breeding seasons at Emirates Park in 2013-2014.
Harbour Watch's first-crop yearlings sold to $145,000 in Australia earlier this year. Now rapidly rising 2-year-olds, they are set to race out of the renowned stables of Chris Waller, Gai Waterhouse, Robert Smerdon, James Cummings, Michael Freedman and other top-echelon trainers.
