Breaking
through for her first win at Doomben on Saturday was the Chris Munce trained
Northern Meteor filly Snow Fields, a $55,000 Magic Millions purchase for the
trainer from the Turangga Farm draft.
She appreciated firmer footing to score a short neck win over 1350 metres at
her third run back from a spell.
"It was the first time today she had been on a dry track and she obviously
appreciated it," Munce said.
"I have always had an opinion of her. She even had her first start in a
stakes race and she has raced against some very good two-year-olds. I would
like to hope she might make an Oaks filly next year."
Bred and sold by Turangga, Snow Fields is a half-sister to stakes-winner Torah
and is the second winner for Perisher Valley (USA), an unraced Devil's Bag mare
from the family of US Group I winner Miss Toshiba that has also produced
Australian Group I winner Isolda.
Perisher Valley has a weanling colt by Redoute's Choice and was covered again
by the champion sire last spring.
