Busy Serving Season for Lucas Bloodstock

Media Release - Wednesday July 6
About a year ago, Ben Lucas' stud farm Lucas Bloodstock at Boonah (near Beaudesert), welcomed DREAMSCAPE to its stallion barn.

He had been standing at Widden Stud NSW and the triple Group winning son of CHOISIR had already kicked off his stud career in fine fashion.

DreamscapeHis son Bugatty topped the 2013 Gold Coast Horses In Training Sale at $310,000 after breezing up in a blistering 9.85 seconds.

He was Group placed at two years and won at Flemington and Moonee Valley before being sold overseas earlier this year. Gai Waterhouse's promising colt Himpapawid won three trials and his first start by 3.3 lengths before injury cut his career short.

With his oldest only current four year olds, his recent runners include 3yo filly Ultimate Dreamer, who made the field in the $500,000 Country Championships Final at Randwick, having won 3 in a row. Matagami has won four races – 3 in a row – for Darren Weir and 2yo filly Hammoon Dreamwon on debut by 2.5 lengths for Kris Lees, following it up with a 5that Rosehill at her next start.

Dreamscape himself was a class sprinter, winning the Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes, the Group 3 Chairman's Stakes and the Group 3 Liverpool City Cup. He beat racehorses of the calibre of Group 1 winners TRIPLE HONOUR, RANGIRANGDOO and DUPORTH.

Dreamscape was well patronised in his first Queensland season, covering 66 mares and stands for $4,400 this upcoming year.

Joining Dreamscape in time for this upcoming season is the superbly bred stallion RED ELEMENT.

Red ElementRecently relocated to Lucas Bloodstock with the continued support of several of his original shareholders, he has a great sense of timing, started the month of July with a bang by reeling off three winners and three placegetters by the 3rd of the month.

A son of internationally successful sire RED RANSOM, Red Element is out of Champion 2yo Filly and Older Mare, TRACY'S ELEMENT. The winner of 11 races – four at Group 1 level – she produced 6-time Group 1 winner TYPHOON TRACY, 3-time Group 1 placegetter Kyliekwong and dual stakes winner, RED ELEMENT.

After claiming the title of Queensland Champion First Season Sire, RED ELEMENT has continued to produce the goods.

His recent runners include Glorious Red, city winner of 5 races and $239,000; 2yo Hawkesbury winner (and 5th in Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes) Hostwin Legend; Warwick Farm winner Red Extension; 2yo dual winner and $100k race runner-up, Uncanny Reason ; and tough, consistent racehorses like Element Of Chance (9 wins), Kisser (5 wins), Smooth Element (5 wins), Glorious Red (5 wins), In His Element(4 wins), Red Bohemia (4 wins), Rabasco (4 wins) and Chloride (4 wins), etc.

With 46 individual winners just this season, Red Element is on an upward spiral.

His oldest progeny are current season four year olds. Some would say his stock are just starting to really hit their straps. With strong crops of 3yos, 2yos and yearlings coming through, the best is yet to come for this exciting young sire, who stands this season for $3,300.

Ben Lucas and staff are in for a busy season, if early bookings are an indicator. "With progeny of both the boys performing well, they are looking great value," said Ben, "and I have already received great interest from broodmare owners."

Ben can be contacted on 0438 614 134.
