Former top Sydney trainer Grahame Begg will have his first runners back from an 18-month hiatus at Tuesday's Geelong Synthetic meeting.
Begg had his last runners at Canterbury in December 2014 before taking a break from the game but is thrilled to have two starters on Tuesday's Geelong Synthetic card.
Begg will run Emoji in the Shojun Concrete SV 3YO Maiden Plate (1200m) and the first-starter Magic Word in the IGA Liquor Maiden Plate (1000m) but the multiple Group I-winning trainer is thrilled to be back at the races.
"I'm fit and well and raring to go," Begg said.
Begg said he was unsure how both his runners would perform on the Geelong Synthetic surface but the pair were in good order for the respective assignment.
The trainer, now based at Pinecliff on the Mornington Peninsula, said he has resumed his impressive career with a small team but had room for a few more horses.
"I'm pretty happy with the way everything's going and we're just feeling our way to be absolutely truthful," Begg said.
"We've just got half a dozen in work at the moment and we've got some more horses being broken in at this point in time.
"We're just starting off with small steps but we've certainly room for more horses. We're not going to have a huge number of horses."
"I'm doing a lot of stuff myself and very hands-on so I'm just working away. We'll just take things as they come."
Begg has taken over the training of the talented filly Mossin' Around, who he part-owns, after the rising four-year-old was placed at Group II and Group II level when in the care of John Thompson.
The trainer of outstanding gallopers Secret Admirer, All Silent and Bonanova has also kept an eye on the progeny of Randwick Guineas winner Ilovethiscity, who has started his stud career with two winners from his first eight starters.
"He's had a couple of winners and I've actually got a nice horse by him in the stable," Begg said. "I still own him so it would be great to get some more winners with him."
