Champion
French Trainer Jean-Claude Rouget produced a promising son of Coolmore shuttler
Excelebration (IRE) to win his second
start over 1400m on Thursday.
Jeu Celebre, a €105,000 yearling purchase by his trainer, showed nice
improvement from his debut to win decisively by 1 1/2 lengths.
Out of a mare by Montjeu, Jeu Celebre joins recent winner Pellucid as another
example of the rapport being developed between Excelebration and mares carrying
Sadler's Wells blood. Pellucid, herself out of a Galileo mare, had impressed
when breaking her maiden on debut over 1200m in England a few weeks ago.
Excelebration is also the sire of impressive maiden winner Natalie Express, who
coasted home by five lengths when winning over 1000m on debut, as well as
highly-touted Richard Hannon-trained colt Barney Roy who holds stakes race
entries in the coming months.
The first Australian progeny of Excelebration will turn two in August and
include a half-sister to top two year-old Defcon in training with Gai
Waterhouse, as well as progeny with leading trainers including Peter and Paul
Snowden, Mick Price, Gerald Ryan Ellerton/Zahra and Matthew Smith.
A brilliant Group I winning son of Exceed and Excel, Excelebration is bnack in
Australia this spring for Coolmore at a fee of $13,750.
