Prince has been siring winners left right and centre, but this one, from a
Group I MRC Thousand Guineas winner, was an easy choice as the 'One to Watch' for
Thursday.
Steve and Louise Gillard have invested in some lovely fillies in recent years
and Speed Princess falls into that category.
Prepared by Bjorn Baker, she was placed three times previously and put it all
together to lead throughout and win the 1100 metre maiden by a length and a
quarter.
A $250,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Patinack Farm draft, Speed Princess
is the second winner for Group I MRC Thousand Guineas winner Serious Speed, a
half-sister to the dam of Group II winner Majestic Music and stakes-winners
Reldas and Victory Chant.
Serious Speed was bought by Gerry Harvey's Baramul Stud for $720,000 from the
2014 Magic Millions Patinack Farm Dispersal.
She is due to foal to Fastnet Rock this spring.
