Spill The Beans rounded out his racing career as a winner, prevailing narrowly in the $175,000 Group II QTC Cup (1300m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
The Gerald Ryan-trained three-year-old colt, a son of Snitzel, heads to his new home at Aquis Farm to begin a stud career on Monday.
Tim Clark worked across from a wide gate aboard Spill The Beans to settle outside the leader Eloping before taking control turning for home.
Plenty gave chase but Clark got enough out of Spill The Beans ($4.40 fav) to score by a head from the fast finishing John O'Shea-trained Federal ($7). Darren Weir's Stratum Star ($10) chased strongly to snare third a further long head away.
"He travelled really well," Clark said. "You can't wait on him and the leader sort of left me there a bit soon.
"But he toughed it out really well and showed good fight."
Ryan sends his colt to happier hunting grounds at Aquis Farm, located in the Gold Coast hinterland, with five career wins from 11 starts and a touch over $560,000 in prizemoney.
Saturday's win was his first Group II victory after previously winning the Group III Eskimo Prince and Group III Hawkesbury Guineas.
"It was a very important win," Ryan said. "Aquis Farm acquired 75 percent of him after Scone.
"We haven't seen the full potential of him yet so in a way it's a shame he's going (to stud) as he would have come back a really nice four-year-old."
Aquis Farm tasted success earlier in the program when recent $300,000 purchase Cradle Me won the Group II Dane Ripper Stakes.
Spill The Beans will be joined by Benfica, Holy Roman Emperor and Domesday on Aquis Farm's stallion roster.
