Consistent
five year-old Snippets Land broke through for a well-deserved win in the Group
III BRC Darley Sprint at Doomben on Saturday.
Now with Peter and Paul Snowden after starting his career with John O'Shea,
Snippets Land arrived under a well-timed ride from Blake Shinn to snare the
1350 metre sprint by half a neck.
Peter Snowden said Snippets Land was honest and a real trier, but was probably
not up to Group I company.
"Snippets Land did a good job when he was second in the Prime Minister's
Cup at his previous start and he has gone one better today," Snowden said.
"But really he is just off the top horses and I am more likely to run him
in the (Group II) QTC Cup on June 4 than the Stradbroke a week later."
Snippets Land was a $120,000 Magic Millions Session Five purchase from Raheen
Stud for astute bloodstock agent Steve Brem.
Running for Ross Visalli's Yellowbrick Road Pty Ltd, Snippets Land has won six
races from 21 starts earning over $342,000 in prizemoney.
Snippets Land was bred by Raheen Stud and is a half-brother to stakes-placed
Canny Franco from unraced Testa Rossa mare Seduction Line, a half-sister to
stakes-winners Slipstream and Blazing Aspect.
Raheen Stud sold the current yearling from Seduction Line, a filly by Snitzel,
for $100,000 at Magic Millions this year.
His sire Snippetson has relocated from Widden Stud and stands in Western
Australia at Scenic Lodge at a fee of $6,500.
