Trainer Lee Freedman is looking for history to repeat with Super One in Saturday's Group I Darley Goodwood at Morphettville.
Boardwalk Angel completed the DC McKay/Goodwood double as a three-year-old in 1989, just one of two to complete the double in the same season, and Freedman is aware of the task facing Super One.
"It's a test for him for sure," Freedman, who trains Super One in partnership with brother Anthony, said. "It's a much harder race than last start but in saying that, he has improved and we're certainly hopeful.
"He's a fast horse and can make his own luck."
Super One led virtually all the way to land the Group III DC McKay Stakes (1100m) on May 7 to ensure his place in the Goodwood field. On Saturday he will again be ridden by Daniel Moor and jump from barrier 13.
An interest in the three-year-old was secured last year by Newgate Farm and the China Horse Club, and he races in the CHC colours.
"There's a chance he could go to stud this season so a Group I win would make a lot of difference to his future value." Freedman said.
Super One is a best priced $18 with Ubet.
