A star in Western Australia, the Bob and Sandra Peters homebred Real Love continues to plunder stakes races in the eastern states since being transferred to Darren Weir, the latest coming in Saturday's $125,000 Group III JRA Cup (2000m) at Doomben.
Ridden by Brad Rawiller the five-year-old daughter of Desert King earned her sixth stakes success with her half-length defeat of Sir John Hawkwood (Sir Percy) with the front-running Volkhere (Dehere) a long-head back in third. (photo Grant Courtney).
It takes the overall record of Real Love to 8 wins, 5 seconds and 6 thirds from 26 starts for earnings of $1,060,410.
Jeremy Rogers, travelling foreman for trainer Darren Weir, said the flashy chestnut gave him some concern during the run.
"She's done so well since she's been in Queensland I was actually a touch worried out the back when she was jig-jogging in the pre-race parade," Rogers told AAP.
"With a stayer you don't really want them up on their toes but she was just feeling so well."
Rogers said Real Love would have her next start in the Group Three Premier's Cup (2200m) at Doomben on May 28.
"All going well after the Premier's Cup she'll then go on to the Brisbane Cup which is our main goal with her," he said.
A sister to the stakes-placed Desert Glow and a half-sister to the Group III winner Suspicion, Real Love is the tenth foal of the pensioned Salieri mare Flaming Heart the winner of the Group III VATC Thoroughbred Club Stakes and the Listed VRC Great Western Stakes.
