The dominant Queen Elizabeth II Cup win by Werther at Sha Tin last month has seen him ranked joint third in the latest list of world rankings and above Chautauqua.
The latest list of rankings published by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities covers racing from January 1 to May 8.
Werther defeated Military Attack by 4 1/2-lengths and is rated 124, the same as Champion's Mile winner Maurice, Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist and Sheema Classic winner Postponed.
Chautauqua remains the highest-rated sprinter on 121 following his last to first win in the Chairman's Sprint Prize over 1200m at Sha Tin on April 24.
Winx and California Chrome are rated the joint best in the world on 126.
