Scoring
a debut win at Kenilworth in South Africa on Tuesday was two year-old Artie
Schiller (USA) colt Our Mate Art.
Prepared by Mike Bass, Our Mate Art took the 1200 metre maiden for two and
three year-olds by three-quarters of a length beating another Australian bred
two year-old in Lora Balmoral (2c Star Witness x Balmoral Belle).
Our Mate Art was a $135,000 Inglis Premier purchase for M Shirtliff from the
Ernivale Thoroughbreds draft and is the first winner for Laureldean Dream
(USA), a half-sister by Stravinsky to Group I winner and sire Ad Valorem (USA).
He was the most expensive yearlings by his sire sold in 2015.
Our Mate Art is another juvenile winner for Emirates Park's Artie Schiller, who
switches to their Hunter Valley base this year following some terrific results
with this current crop of juveniles.
They include high class Group winning colts Flying Artie and Good Standing, who
have helped propel Artie Schiller into fifth place on the Australian 2YO Sires
List.
The proven Group I producing son of El Prado stands at a fee of $22,000.
