Aussie Bred Double in South Africa

Tara Madgwick - Friday May 6
There were two impressive Australian bred maiden winners at Vaal in South Africa overnight in Invincible Flame and Hideway, who was the lone two year-old in a field of older horses.

Prepared by Paul Peter, two year-old Starcraft colt Hideaway was making his debut in the 1400 metre maiden against three and four year-olds and proved far too good.

He cruised home to win by four lengths.

A modest $5,000 Magic Millions Weanling Sale purchase for World Wide Bloodstock from the draft of Arrowfield Stud, Hideaway is the first winner for minor winning Hussonet (USA) mare Hidden Huss, who comes from an imported family featuring Champion US Sprinter Artax.

Invincible Flame as a yearlingWinning the previous race, also over 1200 metres was I Am Invincible filly Invincible Flame, who strode away to win by four and a quarter lengths for the Weiho Marwing stable at her third start.

A $20,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Heritage Bloodstock from the Ambergate Farm draft, Invincible Flame is the second winner for Halo Halo, a Lonhro half-sister to Macau stakes-winner Happy Gladiator.

I Am Invincible has had two runners in South Africa and both are winners.
