The stellar Coolmore roster of 12 stallions is without Uncle Mo and Zoffany, which is not surprising given the quandary they would face in pricing them for the Australian market.
When a shuttle stallion first comes to Australia he has only looks, pedigree and performance to recommend him, but once his first Northern Hemisphere runners get going it can be a completely different story.
That different story played out last year for Uncle Mo and Zoffany, who finished the year as respective champion first season sires on either side of the Atlantic.
Uncle Mo showed particular dominance in the US and was good enough to also take the title of Champion 2YO Sire, a rare feat putting him in elite company.
He has had the pedal to the metal again since the start of the year with two Group I winners and the likelihood of as many as four runners in the Kentucky Derby, so Uncle Mo seems on track for greatness in the stallion barn.
Zoffany might not be quite in that league, but he has done more than enough to be optimistic about his long term future and with the European classics about to unfold could easily step it up a notch in the next few months.
Australian breeders have been lucky enough to have four seasons to breed to these top class stallions at very reasonable fees and the legacy of their early years here may well yield dividends far down the track.
(Here I digress, Invincible Spirit, anyone? Stood here for four seasons at the start of his career and has given us I Am Invincible, who has in turn given us Brazen Beau)
Studbook figures reflect the fortunes of Uncle Mo and Zoffany as pictured below.

Zoffany
Burgeoning success last year meant fee increases for both horses in the Northern Hemisphere this year, Uncle Mo standing for $US75,000 and Zoffany for 45,000 euros.
Those sorts of fees don't fit the context of their Australian results…. yet!
Yet is the key word.
Street Cry (IRE) finished 21st on the Australian First Season Sires List and is now gunning for his first Australian Champion Sires title… Rome was not built in a day.
If you have young stock by either Uncle Mo or Zoffany or mares in foal to them, the next couple of years will be very interesting indeed!
Coolmore have taken a strategic decision to focus on precocious Australian speed with their new stallion acquisitions which include a pair of Golden Slipper winners in Vancouver and Pierro, a Blue Diamond winner in Pride of Dubai and the royally bred speedster Rubick.
Australian speed has served them well in the past to produce the likes of Encosta de Lago, Choisir and Fastnet Rock, so the next chapter of success is there to be written.
