Darley shuttle stallion Bernardini was represented by a new stakes winner on Sunday when Carrumba landed the Grade III Top Flight Handicap (9 fur) at Aqueduct.
Carrumba raced in second place behind leader Mei Ling in the four-horse field to the home turn before asserting her superiority in the straight to score by a half length.
The Phipps-homebred is the 46th stakes winner for Bernardini, the champion North American 3yo Colt in 2006.
Carrumba is out of Castanet, a daughter of El Prado and Bernardini is the sire of Grade I winner Rachel's Valentina out of a mare by Medaglia d'Oro, a son of El Prado.
Carrumba capped a good weeked for Bernardini whose three-year-old daughter Lewis Bay won the Grade II Gazelle Stakes at Aqueduct on Saturday with Carrumba the sixth Graded winner for the stallion in 2016,
Bernardini covered the 2015 season at Darley in the Hunter Valley at an advertised fee of $27,500.
