a Breednet 'One to Watch' when breaking her maiden at Morphettville in April
last year, well-bred Bernardini (USA) filly C'Est Beau La Vie finally delivered
on her potential when winning the Listed SAJC Laelia Stakes on Saturday.
Prepared by Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas, C'est Beau La Vie has been in hot
form and has now three of her past four starts scoring a three-quarter length
victory in the 1600 metre feature over talented dead-heaters Comprende (I Am
Invincible) and Sailing By (Fastnet Rock).
A $170,000 Inglis Easter purchase for her trainer from the Milburn Creek draft,
C'Est Beau La Vie has won four of 12 starts and is in great shape heading into
the Adelaide Carnival.
Bred by Makybe, C'Est Beau La Vie is a half-sister to stakes-winner Wales being
the fourth winner from four to race from Group III winner Valkyrie Diva.
A Group III winner of the MVRC Tesio Stakes, Valkyrie Diva might have been a
lot less successful on the racetrack than her Australian Horse of the Year
half-sister and triple Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva, but as a broodmare she
has her comfortably covered!
Valkyrie Diva produced a filly by Starspangledbanner last spring and is now in
foal to Zoustar.
C'Est Beau La Vie is the 46th stakes-winner worldwide for Darley
shuttler Bernardini, who covered just 36 mares in Australia last year.
