Outstanding producer Dane Belltar has found
fame and fortune as the dam of Caulfield Cup winner Fawkner and million dollar
earner Tanby, her latest offspring to salute being three year-old Starcraft
filly Fife, who scored as favourite at Geelong on Saturday.
The Robert Smerdon trained filly was having her first run back from a spell following a third placing on debut at Ballarat last July.
She forged clear to win over 1400 metres by three-quarters of a length.
Bred by Mill Park in partnership with Steve Bennetts, Fife is the fifth winner from five foals to race for Group III winning Danewin mare Dane Belltar, the dam of triple Group I winner and $3.8 million earner Fawkner as well as multiple Group II winner Tanby and stakes-placed Viking star.
A $650,000 Inglis Easter purchase for David Redvers Bloodstock from the Mill Park draft, Fife runs for Qatar Bloodstock and has the distinction of being the highest priced Starcraft yearling ever sold.
Mill Park will offer the current yearling from Dane Belltar, a colt by Street Cry (IRE) as Lot 249 at the 2016 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
