New
Zealand Horse of the Year Jimmy Choux featured with his second Australian
winner on Wednesday when the Mick Price trained colt Heptagon scored at
Ballarat.
He charged home from back in the field to win by a length on debut.
Winning rider Craig Newitt said Heptagon was a touch coltish in the mounting
yard before the race, but he did everything right once he got out onto the
track.
"He's got a couple of little attitude problems, he was walking around here
with five legs before the race," Newitt said.
"Once you get on his back, he's pretty comfortable and I'm sure he'll
stretch out further in trip too."
A $150,000 NZB Premier purchase from the draft of Bradbury Park for his trainer,
Heptagon is the second winner for Group III winning O'Reilly mare Seven
Schillings.
Heptagon is the fourth winner in total
for Jimmy Choux, the Rich Hill Stud based son of champion sire Thorn Park.
