Aussie Flavour To Tattersalls October

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday October 6
The 2015 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale kicks off tonight our time and one could almost be forgiven for thinking you were at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale or Magic Millions with a strong representation by many of our best known sires including Fastnet Rock, Redoute's Choice and Exceed and Excel.

Fastnet RockFastnet Rock has had a ground breaking year in the Northern Hemisphere with Group I winners Qualify and Diamondsandrubies as well as exciting two year-old filly Turret Rocks, who was second in a Group I race at Longchamp on Sunday.

Qualify is set to star at the Tattersalls sale ring later this year as she has been entered in the December Mares Sale making her the first Epsom Oaks winner to be sold at public auction in the year of her Classic triumph for more than 50 years.

"It is very rare for an Oaks winner to be offered at public auction, especially in the year of her Classic triumph, and it is a privilege to be offering QUALIFY on behalf of Mrs Regalado Gonzalez," said Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony.

"She is a gorgeous filly, a Classic winner and a Group winner at two years old, and she is beautifully bred. It is hard to find such a complete package and the Tattersalls December Sale will be the perfect stage for a filly of such quality."

Throw in a $1million filly at the recent Keeneland September Yearling Sale and it's fairly safe to say Fastnet Rock has his commercial stripes in both hemispheres now and has 14 entries in Book One.

Redoute's Choice has eight entries including a filly tipped as a potential star in Lot 24, the half-sister to this year's multiple Group I winning filly Legatissimo from Yummy Mummy.

Golden Slipper winner Sepoy has an impressive 15 entries and if his offspring please Northern Hemisphere buyers as they did Australian yearling buyers earlier this year he may well make a big impression.

Exceed and Excel has 23 entries including Lot 81, a three-quarter brother to Group I Queensland Oaks winner Dariana from Beldarian.

His high class sons Excelebration and Helmet are also represented with eight entries each.

Stay tuned for all the action from Newmarket in England!
