Champion
sprinter and sire sensation Starspangledbanner added another Australian winner
to his tally with an impressive victory at Geelong on Tuesday for Classy
Chanel.
Prepared by David Hayes and Tom Dabernig, Classy Chanel was having her first
run back from a spell following an unplaced debut at Moonee Valley for Leon and
Troy Corstens back in February.
Sent out favourite in the 1000 metre maiden, she cruised home to win by more
than two lengths in a very pleasing return.
An $80,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Roy Higgins and Wylie Dalziel Racing
from the Bell River Thoroughbreds draft, Classy Chanel is the first winner for Coco
Keringle, a winning Exceed and Excel half-sister to Group I winner Mirjulisa
Lass.
With five winners from just 12 runners in Australia this season from his first
Southern Hemisphere crop, the fertility troubled Starspangledbanner stands this
spring at Rosemont Stud at a fee of $44,000.
