Stakes Goals for Rock Mylady

Media Release - Thursday May 7
Triple Crown Syndications'owners cheered Rock Mylady (Road To Rock ex Myladys) home in the 1300m Handicap at Warwick Farm yesterday, where he displayed an explosive turn of foot in the final 100m to run down the clear leader, Mana, on the Heavy track and land his second win from only four starts.

Rock Mylady as a yearlingIt's easy to argue that the handsome 3yo should have four wins on the board from his four career starts, with a luckless run first up to finish less than half a length in third, and a dropped whip when finishing third again by a slender margin over 1600m at his third start.

However, piloted expertly by Kerrin McEvoy yesterday, the big bay, although settling a pair or two back further than originally planned, balanced up nicely once in the straight to really knuckle down and hit the line well.

"We were only just warming up. It was a good effort and he's only going to improve" said McEvoy.

First up off the back of a spell yesterday, Rock Mylady will relish further ground as he progresses through his preparation and the Triple Crown and Snowden Racingteam will look to step him up to a mile at his next start.

TheGroup 1 Queensland Derbywas his target for this preparation, however the wet weather has set his preparation back and he will now be set for the$400,000 Queensland Guineas.

Rock Mylady was purchased by Chris and Michael Ward from the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale for $50,000 from the Sledmere Stud draft.

"He was an exceptional physical type as a yearling and it's great to see him living up to his looks on race day, " Michael Ward stated.

With a general focus on acquiring precocious 2yo types, Chris and Michael have provided their owners with the chance to chase some of the Classics with Rock Mylady. This year they added another colt to the stable who fits the exact same profile. The Roman Emperor ex Laylia colt, of which syndicate shares are currently available, is the half-brother to stakes winning mare Shamalia, and is an exciting prospect to target the Derbies and Cups!
